We can have fun with the whole family, troll for walleye, or go after trophy stripers. Children can learn the thrill of hooking their first fish and parents can enjoy the smiles of their children's faces as they reel in their first catch. Both Lake Hickory and Lake James has Marinas with snacks available to purchase. Prior to any Lake Rhodhiss trip there are plenty of stores we can visit prior departure.

Colt Bass Fishing has a variety of guide and tour plans available to meet your fishing needs. We plan both full and half day excursions, Please let us know your needs before you arrive.

* Please understanding that boating in general has some risk and could become dangerous for any number of reasons. Therefore, we require that you read, print and sign the form below before "ANY" planned excurson. If you cannot print the form one will be provided prior to departure.

Q. Where and what time are we going to meet?
A. If you decide to book a trip at Lake Hickory or Lake James its best to meet at one of the many boat ramps available. If you book a Lake Rhodhiss trip, we can mutually decide this prior to your trip.
Q. Do I need a fishing license to fish on these lakes?
A. Yes, absolutely! I provided links below to the North Carolina Wildlife Commission to either download the appropriate form or you can go to any of their convenient locations and purchase one without waiting.
Q. Will I get motion/seasick on your boat?
A. Each person is different so it is hard to predict. The lakes we fish on are moderately calm however on windy days there is a chance the boat will sway. If this is the case, I recommend you visit your local pharmacy and pick-up any of the over-the-counter motion sickness pills and follow the directions on the box. If you are still unsure ask the pharmacist, they can recommend the best product available.
Q. My son/daughter can't swim do you have a life vest for him/her?
A. Yes, we do provide life vest for everyone on board. North Carolina law requires anyone 13 years old and younger MUST have a life vest on at ALL times when the vessel is underway.
Q. My son/daughter really wants to drive the boat can he/she sit on your lap and try?
A. No, unfortunately I cannot allow that. State laws require that anyone carrying passengers for hire must possess a North Carolina Captains license and that would put me at risk of losing my Captains license.
Q. What do you recommend I bring?
A. Heres a list of recommended things to have.
* Sunscreen
* Camera
* Lunch, Snacks & Drinks (cooler and ice is provided)
*Valid North Carolina fishing license
* Sun Glasses (polarized works best)
* Appropriate Attire (during warm weather we recommend carrying light rain gear as a precaution. During winter months coveralls & gloves are highly recommended).
* Absolutely No Drugs, Alcohol or Firearms are permitted.
